The African Lion

I really enjoyed creating this compilation -style- lion video and reminiscing about all the different lions that I came across whilst traveling in Africa. I feel pretty lucky to have been able to see them in their natural habitat/environment.

As an animal lover and true advocate of animal welfare, like many concerned-caring people, I’m distraught about the plight of the lion’s survival which continues to plummet to staggeringly low numbers because of mans’ disturbing intervention which is completely destroying and wiping out these majestic animals due to poaching/hunting, poisoning and canned hunting. This also includes unlawful and deceptive (so called) ‘sanctuaries’ that offer cup petting and lion walking to unknowing volunteers that think they’re helping, but in actuality, they are merely contributing to the exploitation of the lion. And let’s not forget about the big cats that are forced to perform in circuses day after day, year after year, as well as the bored and unstimulated big cats in zoos; and the small disgusting road side zoos. It’s all pretty unbearable, and it all comes down to one thing, the mere ‘greed’ of man. Profit.

Having said that, it’s not all doom and gloom, there are indeed a lot of amazing people and many great organizations and conservation groups out there that are doing incredible work to save and protect these lions and their livelihood.

Constant global awareness is what it takes to bring attention to these issues, which can then create change as people begin to pay more attention, become kinder and more empathetic.

What you’ll see in this video are some highlights of these majestic lions that I filmed whilst in Tanzania, Kenya and Botswana.

Enjoy
